Our Story.

Over the past 10 years we have had the pleasure of working with business people, executives, C-suites, diplomats, singers, actors, political figures and government ministers. Irrespective of gender or nationality, level, rank, role or industry, time and time again we kept hearing the phrase:

I just want to be me when I speak English.

This was the birthplace of AUTHOR. We realised that addressing English shortcomings was not simply about the language itself, but also about the performance factor; about our mental blocks, our internal dialogue and our psychological preparation. Key high-pressure moments require adequate mental preparation – even more so when we have to do it in a second language. At AUTHOR, our approach is both linguistic and psychological – we improve your English language skills, whilst simultaneously helping you to master your mindset towards English communication.

Through our founder’s research on vulnerability and study of cognitive behavioural psychology, it has enabled us to identify patterns and ways of working that ensure maximum impact when it comes to English training.

We believe that these are core underpinnings of great communication  –  the capacity to be yourself, take ownership, and be willing to share with others.

Any form of effective communication starts with authenticity. By being ourselves, we allow others to connect with us.

Why Authority? 

Authority is an important part of effective communication – that does not necessarily mean having authority over others, but rather, means having authority or confidence in one’s own message.

Why Authorship? 

Authorship is about our willingness to share. Communication is a dance, of sorts; a process of back and forth. By minimising our hesitation, and increasing our confidence, we are more willing to share our message.

Our Name.

Our name is something close to our heart. We believe that every person is the ‘AUTHOR’ of their own life, with the capacity to write their own course. The same goes for our communication – we have Authority for how we speak. We wanted to choose a name that represented the explicitly expressed needs of our clients: a sense of authority, autonomy and automation that people search for, when speaking English. They want ownership of their words, to be authentic, to share openly and have authorship when communicating – and so AUTHOR was born.

The team at Author is expert in helping non-native English speakers communicate with confidence. While the vast majority of our clients are professionals, broadly speaking, our clients tend to fall into three categories – corporate clients, ministers & diplomats, celebrities & VIP’s.
